Boost Self Esteem With Self-Motivation

If you’re lacking in daily motivation, chances are you’re more normal than you may think. We often assume that other people around us are full of boundless energy and motivation and that if we don’t feel particularly enthused about anything, this must be a sign of something serious. In truth, most people are probably lacking quite a bit in daily motivation but it’s just not something that they talk about very often and not something they often admit. But no matter what the feelings of people around you, it’s nice to have your own enthusiasm and reasons for achieving goals and making plans and just enjoying your life. So how can you improve your daily motivation if you seem to be lacking?

The first thing you need to remember is that you need to find something positive in order to increase you daily motivation. Think of what in your life is positive; you might assume there’s not much in your life that’s positive but if you’re honest you’ll surely come up with something! You need to meditate on these things every day and very often more than once throughout the day.

To improve your daily motivation you also need to meditate on what makes you feel positive. This might be your family, friends, career, hobbies, future plans, and so on. When you have a bad day at work, you concentrate on your family. When you’re arguing with your family, concentrate on your great career. When you make a conscious choice of what you dwell on you can then improve your daily motivation. If you just let your mind dwell on things you find discouraging then of course you won’t be motivated! So it’s important to think seriously and consciously about what your mind will rest on.

Believe it or not, exercise also helps increase daily motivation. When you increase your blood circulation and strengthen your heart, lungs, and muscles, you feel better overall. Exercise also releases endorphins, those “feel good” chemicals in the brain that increase energy and a sense of calm. Many who exercise say they have much more daily motivation than ever because of it. You might think that you need to be motivated to exercise but in reality, if you exercise first you’ll find motivation after. This doesn’t need to be anything strenuous or even physically dangerous; a half hour every day of just walking or bike riding can go a long way toward increasing your daily motivation.

Remember too that your daily motivation has to come from within. You can’t expect your family and friends to motivate you or encourage you all the time; you need to do this on your own. You can use positive reinforcement, funny calendars, and just about any other tool at your disposal but in the end it will depend upon your attitude. You can’t expect your daily motivation to be someone else’s responsibility; you need to make sure you’re creating it for yourself every single day.
